The Deke Slayton Route is named for test pilot and astronaut Deke Slayton who was born on a farm near Sparta.  One of the points of interest on this route is the Deke Slayton Memorial Museum.  Be sure to get your picture taken next to the life sized statue of Deke!  Beginning in Sparta, this 280 mile route also includes a trip through the Mindoro Cut and access to 3 Wisconsin Rustic Roads.
