2019 Mayhem Ride Wrap-Up

The Mayhem Ride is an annual group ride that Dale started 4 years ago for a small group of family and friends.  This is the first year we opened it up publicly and invited all our Driftless Road followers along, and we are so happy with the way it went that we may just have to do it again next year!

IMG_2289

Wow, what a great day!!  We ended up with a really big group (compared to past rides), 17 bikes and 25 people!

20190608_081224

This was a special day for Dale for many reasons.  One of which was that our youngest son was his co-pilot for the day.  Another is that it gave him the opportunity to surprise his dad with a birthday cake on his 80th birthday at the cookout after the ride!

20190608_063608

The weather was perfect and everyone arrived in time to visit a bit before we took off.

IMG_2151

We made stops in Fennimore at the Veteran’s Memorial and Cassville for a drink/fuel stop.  We also stopped for lunch in Praire du Chein and again for drinks/fuel in Blue River.

The roads (with 1 or 2 exceptions) were great, and the scenery, as always, was awesome.

Toward the end of the ride we stopped in Boscobel at one of the rider’s houses to see his motorcycle collection.  Bill collects all sorts of motorcycles…some are very unique.  When we got there, we found another group of riders was already there, so we got to visit with them too!

At the end of the ride, Roddy hosted the group at his place in Woodman for an after ride cookout.20190608_182805

Overall it was a great day.

We would like to thank all of the riders who came out to ride with us on Saturday, especially Jeremy, Cari, Jeff, Neil, and John who came so far just to ride with us.

We also want to give a big thank you to Bill for opening up his garage/museum to our group.

Finally, we want to give a special thanks to our good friend Roddy.  Roddy did so much to help make this more than just a ride.  He gave us suggestions for stopping points, he designed the ride shirts, he opened up his campground for our riders, and he provided a post-ride cookout for the entire group.  Roddy, words alone are not enough, but Thank You!!

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Mayhem ride.  Until then; ride safe everyone.

June 5th Events Update

4th Annual Galena Adventure Ride is in the Books – Last weekend we had a great time making some new friends and riding some amazing roads.  Motoworks Chicago’s Johnny Scheff and Chicago Dual Sport Rider’s Terry Gerken organized a wonderful 2 day event filled with riding, eating, and story telling.
I was fortunate to lead a paved group ride on both Saturday and Sunday and I had a blast.  Our group was mostly from Chicago, so all of the roads and sights were new to them.  Here are some of the highlights from our ride:

We are in the final countdown to the 4th Annual Mayhem Ride.  The weather is shaping up to be terrific for the ride day, and the rider count is increasing.  If you are planning on attending, please go to our Event Page and sign up.  Also, if you find you are not able to attend, please remove your name from the list.

Last weekend was also the BMW Owners of Minnesota Hiawatha Rally at Money Creek, MN.  It looks like they had a great time!

June 8th:

  • June 8th – 4th Annual Mayhem Ride.  This Featured Event, hosted by Driftless Road Adventures and Woodman Lake Cabins and RV, is sure to be a fun day of riding some of the best roads in Southwest Wisconsin.  After the ride is over Roddy (from Woodman Lake Cabins) is cooking up burgers and hot dogs for everyone.  We might also have a few other surprises in the works, but you have to join the ride to find out what they are.  Proceeds from t-shirt sales will be donated to the Woodman Veteran’s Memorial.
  • June 6th-9th – Pure Stodge Touring Association presents the 43rd Annual Iowa BMW Motorcycle Rally. Located in the heart of the historical German Amana Colonies—there is plenty of shady, grassy camping space at the Middle Amana Community Park! Enjoy modern restrooms and shower facilities; campfires; electricity; and plenty of space for RV camping.
  • June 8th-9th – Glacial Lakes Motorcycle Club – Hyder Seek.  Complete an IBA ride and end up in Hyder, AK for a banquet with the GLMC team.
